I spent my senior year at ACV getting to know Bob. I knew him as a kind and friendly person. I didn't know that he joined the Marine Corps but it does not surprise me a bit. Myself and several of his buddies did the same thing after HS.
The 1/5 Marines were a force to be reckoned with in Vietnam and he may have been on the assault of Hue in 1968, a battle that was fierce and deadly. A Vietnam battle that will live forever in Marine Corps history.
I bumped into a few guys I knew while in Vietnam but not Bob. He like the rest of us were Marine infantry that belonged to the Marine Amphibious Force.
Bob I will see you on "the other side of the clearing" one day. I await your heroes embrace where will will jump and shout and dance about because we will fear death no longer.
