Karen Diann (Bowser) Earley

Karen Diann Bowser Earley, 68, of Chicora, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside following a brief illness.

Karen was born on August 12, 1948 in East Brady.  She was the daughter of the late William Blair and Deloris Marie Shaffer Bowser.

Karen was a 1966 graduate of East Brady High School.  She had been employed as a dental assistant by Dr. Scisly in East Brady.  Karen enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, morning “Breakfast Club” at Cindy’s Place and the company of her silver lab, Bella.  Karen was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicora and had served as president of the Sugarcreek Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for many years.

Karen was married in East Brady on October 1, 1966 to Ernest “Ernie” Earley.  The couple had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family cruise to New England and Canada.

In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by a brother, Robert Bowser and his wife, Kim, of Sligo; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, William and Patricia Earley of Franklin and Esther and William Stahlman of Chicora, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 7 – 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Monday.  Additional visitation will be held from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Rd., Chicora, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, church pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Sugarcreek Twp., Armstrong Co.  Memorial contributions in Mrs. Earley’s name may be made to the Sugarcreek Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept.
