Eva Marie (Jonak) Beals

Eva Marie (Jonak) Beals, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016, in Roswell, Georgia.
Prior to moving to Roswell after the death of her husband of 58 years, Eva lived in Tuxedo, New York for 30 years.
She was born in Budapest, Hungary, on January 29, 1933 to Ernest and Margaret Jonak, and immigrated to the United States in 1949.  During this time, her family spent a year in a DP (displaced persons) camp in Austria, and she assisted in the delivery of her sister in a bomb shelter during an air raid. 
Eva graduated from Western Reserve College with degrees in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Mathematics.  Her first job was with Sohio (Standard Oil Company of Ohio) in Cleveland, where she met and soon married the love of her life, David.  While at Sohio, Eva was instrumental in developing a process for the production of acrylonitrile.
Later in her career, she worked for Thiokol, Oxirane Chemical Co., Atlantic Richfield Co (ARCO), and lastly, Nepera Chemical Co., in Harriman, NY, where she was responsible for the chemical process that produces pyridine.  Eva contributed to quite a few company owned patents in career as a chemist.
Eva was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, who volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and was an active advocate of Planned Parenthood.
She was a gourmet cook who loved to entertain, she enjoyed gardening and traveling to other countries with her husband after they retired.
 
Eva has 3 daughters, Monica (married to Tom Nagle), Karen (married to Paul Melnick) and Sari, as well as six grandchildren; Kelsey, David, Shannon, Matt, Anna and Abby.  She is survived by her two sisters, Erika and Beata, and brother, Gary, who all live in the Cleveland area.
There will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, September 4th, at 11am at the Hotel at Oberlin in Oberlin, Ohio.
Burial will be at the Emlenton Cemetery on Monday, September 5th.
