Dorothy A. Clouse

Dorothy A. Clouse, 93, of Chicora, left for her heavenly home shortly after her arrival at Butler Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon, February 10, 2016.

Mrs. Clouse had been a resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Butler since 2014, where she enjoyed various activities, especially bingo and crossword puzzles. Dorothy had formed many close relationships with the staff and residents at the home where she felt truly comfortable.

Dorothy was born in Summit Twp., Butler County on January 7, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Norman P. and Agnes Moniot Oesterling.

She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland and was a member of the Christian Mothers group there.

She attended St. Paul School in Butler. Dorothy was instilled with a strong work ethic from an early age and worked hard on the family farm. As the oldest sibling, Dorothy was a compassionate caregiver to her parents, brothers and sisters. In her earlier years she had been employed at Ferguson's Grocery Store in Butler. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed baking, cooking, and especially canning. Dorothy had a wonderful sense of humor and always looked forward to a good party. She was a loving mother whose first concern was taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Dorothy was married on September 1, 1945 at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler to Arthur A. "Bill" Clouse. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2008.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Clouse and his wife, Mary, Richard Clouse and his wife, Rosie, all of Butler and Thomas Clouse and his wife, Jyll, of Chicora; two daughters, Debbie Baptiste and her husband, Russell, of Kittanning and Patricia Andreassi and her husband, Timothy, of Butler; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Snyder and her husband, Carl, of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Schroth and Mary N. "Nim" Ritzert, and four brothers, Norman Jr., Kenneth P., Albert J., and Paul Oesterling, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Rd., Chicora, in the Village of North Oakland, with the Rev. Rick Thompson, church pastor, officiating. A parish prayer service will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, North Oakland.
