Charles W. McMurdy

Charles W. McMurdy, 92, of Franklin, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2016 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Charles was born in West Home near Emlenton on February 18, 1924.  He was the son of the late Elmer and Leora Beals McMurdy.

Charles was a graduate of Emlenton High School.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.   He had been employed at Sehman’s Tire Service in Franklin.  He was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ray McMurdy, whom he married in Franklin on June 11, 1947.

Surviving are a daughter, Marlene Bickel of Franklin; a sister, Jeanne Hindman of Emlenton,  and 7 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife, Charles was preceded in death by two daughters, Paula Rapp, and an infant daughter, Carla Sue McMurdy, a son, Robert McMurdy, and a sister, Betty Onuffer.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 SR 257, Seneca, Cranberry Twp., with the Rev.
