Robert L. Russell

Robert L. “Bob” Russell, 69, of Bruin, passed away Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025 while surrounded by his loving wife and family at the home of his daughter in Karns City.

Robert was born in Butler on January 24, 1956. He was the son of the late Jack and Ida Early Deitz.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Marie D. Goodman Russell; three children, Nicole Smith and her husband, Ryan, of Bradys Bend, Ryan Russell and Rebecca Shreve and her husband, Brian, all of Karns City. He was affectionately “Papa” to his granddaughters, Averi and Zoey. Also surviving is a brother, Samuel Deitz and his wife, Tammy, of Bradys Bend, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jonathan Samuel Abron Deitz. 

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Pastor Paul DeBacco of Criswell Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Eusebius Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Bradys Bend and Chicora American Legion Posts.
