Rex Powell

Rex Powell, 64, of Chicora, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Rex was born in Butler on June 24, 1959.  He was the son of the late Richard and Delores Sanderson Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Laurie Ellenberger Powell and their two amazing and loving children, Joshua Powell and his wife, Amie and Brittany Stephenson and her husband, Aaron; five sweet and loving grandchildren, Abby, Aiden, and Jase, Tommy and Daisy; three brothers, Rick Powell and his wife, Gina, Don Powell and his wife, Sharon, and Doug Powell; a sister, Tammy Moore and her husband, Jim, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Rex is also survived by a team of loving nurses at 4 South at Butler Memorial Hospital, his greeters, Penny and Connie, who greeted him with a smile when he arrived at the hospital each day; his visiting nurses, Amanda, Sabrina, and Craig, who went above and beyond to care for all of his needs.  Rex truly loved and appreciated them all.

A private funeral service was held for family at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora with long time family friend and pastor, Rev. Richard Jenks, officiating.  Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
