Pamela Emery Obituary

Pamela J. “Pam” Emery, 66, of Bruin, went to be with the Lord early Thursday morning, October 6, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Pamela was born in Butler on January 17, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Eleanor C. McGarvey Smith.

She was a 1974 graduate of Karns City Area High School. She was a crossing guard at Bruin Elementary School for more than 8 years and delivered the Butler Eagle in Bruin for 18 years. Pam loved animals, especially cats, but thoroughly enjoyed helping take care of her “grand dogs”, hiking, walking, gardening and making birthday cakes for her family.

In her earlier years, Pam was an active member of the former St. John’s Reformed Church in Chicora. Later she attended the Chicora Alliance Church and most recently The Martinsburg Church of Bruin, where Pam taught Sunday School, Bible School, and helped in the nursery. Pam had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She enjoyed flower gardening both at home and the church.

Pam is survived by her husband, John R. Emery Jr., whom she married at the Bruin United Methodist Church on December 24, 1978. Also surviving are two children, Tiffany J. Sherman and her husband, Bryan, and Troy A. Emery, all of Bruin; two brothers, Michael Smith and his wife, Darla, of Chicora and R. Neil Smith of Bruin; a brother-in-law, Rodney Sheakley of Petrolia; four sisters-in-law, Jean Smith of Chicora and Heidi Hovis of Emlenton, Juanita McGuire of Cabot, and Pamela Manny and her husband, Rick; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gale Smith, a sister, Linda Sheakley, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Sr. and Joanne Emery.

Family and close friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday.
