Melanie L. “Mel” Courson, 63, of St. Petersburg, went peacefully to be with the Lord in the comfort of her home while with her family early Friday morning, June 12, 2026.
Melanie was born in Butler on December 18, 1962. She was the daughter of Barbara Stewart Logue of St. Petersburg and the late William D. “Bill” Logue.
She was a 1980 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg. Mel was employed as the manager at the Emlenton Fitness Center.
She had been a long time member of the former St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg. Mel enjoyed canning, target shooting, collecting antiques, fishing at Moraine State Park and Kahle Lake, and looked forward to vacations at North Top Sail Island where she would walk the beach searching for shark teeth. She enjoyed the company of her family, especially the grandkids, to whom she was affectionately “Mimi.”
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Thomas J. “Tom” Courson, whom she married at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg on June 6, 1981. Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey L. “Jeff” Courson and his wife, Amanda, of Parker and Thomas Eric “Tommy” Courson and his wife, Kayla, of Corsica; her grandchildren, Alyssa Courson and her fiancé, Ryan, Makenden Courson, Gabriel Courson, Aiden Bailey, Thomas, Waylon, Tristan, Bearrett, and Sairy Courson; a brother, David Logue (Chris Diamond) of Butler; a sister, Marcy Courson and her husband, Rob, of St. Petersburg; a sister-in-law, Gabi Logue of St. Petersburg; an aunt, Sonya Ritts; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tim and Gaylene Courson, Tammy and John Tasker, Troy and Mary Leigh Courson, Triscia and Don Sprouse, Terry and Michele Courson, and Todd and Brenda Courson, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Dennis Logue, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Carol Courson, her paternal and maternal grandparents, and a number of aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received at Park Hill First Church of God, 3314 Lime Plant Road, Parker, from 2-4 p.m. on Monday, June 15. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. from the church with Rev.
