Larry G. Rettig Obituary

Larry G. Rettig, 74, of Fenelton, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 9, 2024 in the comfort of his home.

Larry was born in Grove City on January 19, 1950. He was the son of the late Ralph G. andV irginia Sweeney Rettig.

He was a 1970 graduate of Butler Area High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and theA rmy National Guard. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972 and the U.S. Army National Guard from 1984-2006 and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving in Iraq from June of 2004 to November of 2005. Larry retired from the U.S. Army National Guard in 2006. In his earlier years, he had been employed as a welder at Pullman Standard in Butler.

Larry enjoyed the company of his family, watching tv, and playing pool.

Larry is survived by his wife, Carol A. Southworth Rettig, whom he married in Slippery Rock onA ugust 13, 1986. Also surviving are his children, Chad E. Rettig and his wife, Meagan, of Fenelton, Jason Scott Rettig (Steven) of Alexandria, Va, John A. Rettig and his wife, Becki of West Sunbury,and Daniel L. Rettig and his wife, Lyndsey, of Virginia Beach, VA; 13 Grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a brother, Gary C. Rettig, his sister, Marlene E. Herold and her husband, Richard, all of Prospect, his brothers in law and sisters in law Linda and William Andrews of Prospect, and Paul and Cathy Southworth of North Hills, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Bruce Rettig.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 11 a.m to 1 p.m Friday. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 1 p.m with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart a United Methodist Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at Hillview Cemetery, Kepples Corners. Military honors will be accorded by members of the Chicora and Brady’s Bend American Legion Posts. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
