Jay A. O’Donnell, 59, of Butler, a well-known area business man, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 15, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Jay was born August 18, 1962 in Butler. He was the son of the late Harry R. and Mary Louise Young O’Donnell.
He was a 1980 graduate of Butler Area High School. He was the owner and operator of Captain Hook’s Carwash in Chicora and the Karns City Carwash. He was also part owner, with his brothers and sister, of the family businesses their parents began, O’Donnell’s Distributor, Carwash, and Transport.
Jay loved spending time at camp. It was his “happy place.”
He is survived by his son, Matthew O’Donnell of Butler; son-in-law, Corey Kennedy of Butler; two grandchildren, Brystol and Brantley O’Donnell; brothers, Harry “Butch” O’Donnell and his wife, Linda, Dennis O’Donnell and his wife, Doris, all of Chicora, and Steve O’Donnell and his wife, Sherry, of Butler; special friend, Lisa Manny, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Connie O’Donnell; son, Justin O’Donnell; sister, Judy O’Donnell-Roddy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Joyce Monsilovich.
