Obituary

Jane A. Ellenberger, 80, formerly of Chicora and Dayton, OH, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022 at Concordia in Fox Chapel.

Jane was born in Pittsburgh on November 24, 1941.  She was the daughter of the late Carl Sr. and Erma McGinnis Poerschke.

She was a 1958 graduate of North Hills High School and earned a computer forensic degree from Butler County Community College when she was 62 years old.  Jane was a well-known expert in photo restoration and owned and operated her own business for a number of years.  She had also been employed as an administrative assistant at the Butler Eagle and was later employed as the administrative assistant to the president at the Mazer Corporation in Dayton, OH.  Jane held two U.S. patents, one was a hidden pin for holding clothing in place and the other was a device attached to scissors, which held them in place to cut a straight line.  She had also designed and marketed a CD greeting card.  She loved crafts of all types and enjoyed furniture restoration, photography, playing the violin, bird watching, and helping others prepare their tax returns.  Jane was well-known for her independent personality and generosity.  Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, always making sure they knew she was there for them.

She is survived by two children, Diana Schubert and her husband, Todd, of Dayton, OH and David H. Ellenberger and his wife, Sara, of Karns City; she was affectionately “Grandma Jane” to her nine grandchildren, Bryan and Katelyn Wilson, Travis, Tiffany, Rachelle, Jacob, Jeanie, Emily, and Jarrod Ellenberger; a great grandson, Derrick Ellenberger; a brother, Carl Poerschke Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Harlansburg; two sisters, Virginia Bloom of Portersville and Charlotte Dressler and her husband, Jacob, of Prospect; a daughter-in-law, Christina Ellenberger of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary D. Ellenberger, who passed away on December 7, 2021.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.  A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, pastor of Faith Community United Methodist Church, Bruin, officiating.  Interment will follow at St. John Reformed Church Cemetery, Chicora.  Memorial contributions may be made to Concordia at Fox Chapel, 931 PA-910, Cheswick, PA 15024 .  Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
