Hattie Williams Obituary

Hattie B. Williams, 98, of Karns City went home to our Heavenly Father Wednesday, August 11, 2021 Chicora Medical Center with her daughter by her side.

Mrs. Williams was born in Bradys Bend Twp., Armstrong County, on January 19, 1923 to the late William B. and Mary I. Early McGarvey.

She was a 1941 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School, and in her earlier years she had been employed as a Clerk in the Foundry Office at Pullman Standard. She also worked in the cafeteria of Fairview Township Karns City School. She later retired from Bobbie Brooks. She was a longtime, active member of the Karns City United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Sawyer Bible Class and attended the Who Do Sunday School Class, and earlier taught Sunday School. She loved spending time with her sisters and was an avid sports fan who, along with her sister, Alda Edwards and niece, Maxine McElravy, were well-known loyal fans at many Karns City athletic events. Hattie always put others first and was a selfless giving person, always complementing everyone. Everyone loved her. She enjoyed going to Church and was a true servant of the Lord all of her life, always sharing her faith with others. She truly knew her Bible and could recite the 91st Psalm by heart, along with a lot of other scriptures. She was also known as a wonderful pie baker.

She was married to Jack C. Williams on June 18, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 19, 1990.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy K. Williams of Karns City and Jacquelyn L. Williams of California, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Madge L. Bowser, Eleanor B. Hazlett, Sarah M. Shaffer, and Alda Edwards, and three brothers, William, Delmar, and Stanley McGarvey.
