Gretchen Barger Obituary

Gretchen Barger, 27, of Philadelphia,  formerly of Prospect, lost her battle with addiction on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Gretchen was born in Butler on August 24, 1997.  She was the daughter of Patrick Barger and Darla (Glunt) Hunt.

She graduated with honors from PA Distance Learning Charter School in 2017.

Gretchen loved music, unicorns, drawing, and crossword puzzles. She was an amazing artist.

She had a wonderful sense of humor that made her a joy to be around.

Though Gretchen left us way too early, the memories of all the special moments with her will live on in our hearts forever. She was a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, and niece.

Gretchen is survived by her daughter, Ellie Rose Seelbaugh of Prospect; her mother Darla Hunt and her husband, Earl “Denny” Hunt, also of Prospect; her father, Patrick Barger of Grove City; two sisters, Olivia Hunt of Seven Fields and Tabitha Hunt of Prospect; two brothers, Avery Hunt of Prospect and Nolan Barger of Grove City; her maternal grandparents, Adrienne & Dave Kniess of Prospect and her paternal grandparents, Dennis and Nancy Barger of Grove City, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

“Gretchen, you will be loved eternally, missed always, and thought about daily.”

A celebration of life service for family and close friends will be held at the Portersville Bible Church with Gretchen’s grandfather, Rev. Dennis Barger, pastor of Scrubgrass Stone Church of Emlenton, and former church pastor, Rev. Michael Charles, co-officiating, will be announced in the near future.  Memorial contributions may be made to Found Hope, 400 West Cunningham Street, Butler, PA 16001, www.foundhope.net. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc., Emlenton.  Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
