Edwin Foringer Obituary

Edwin E. “Ed” Foringer 83, of East Brady, Sugarcreek Twp. Armstrong County, a well known area resident, passed away peacefully while in the company of his loving family, Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2024, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. 

Edwin was born in Bruin on June 29, 1940. He was the son of the late C. Donald and Velma A. Lynch Foringer. He was a graduate of East Brady Area High School. In his early years, he attended the Kaylor United Methodist Church. Ed was a United States Army Veteran having served his country during the Vietnam Era.

He was a life member of the Sugar Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, the company of family and friends, telling stories, and reminiscing about local history. He was retired from Witco in Petrolia. 

Ed was a well-known highly respected antique dealer operating an antique shop from his home for many years. Ed had customers far and wide who relied on his expertise and trusted his advice. 

Ed is survived by his wife Nyoka M. Houten Foringer, whom he married in Chicora on May 27, 1967. Also surviving are two children, Audra Gallaher and her husband Daniel of Chicora, and Ricky Foringer of East Brady; he was affectionately “Papa” to his grandchildren, Samantha Gallaher of North Olmstead, Ohio, and Shane Gallaher of Chicora. Ed is also survived by his brother in law, Joseph Houten of Coca, Florida, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, loyal customers, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, as well as a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Jack DeCorte. 

Friends will be received at The Hile Funeral Home of Karns City 128 Main Street, Karns City, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. from the funeral home with Evangelist and family friend, Larry F. Krause, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery Sugarcreek Twp. Armstrong County. Sugarcreek Twp. VFD will post a ceremonial honor guard and engine outside the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to the Sugarcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department, 110 Rodgers Road, East Brady PA, 16028. or the Sugarcreek Ambulance Service 2030 State Route 268, East Brady PA, 16028.
