Douglas K. “Dougie” Henery, 61, formerly of Emlenton and Polk Center, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 6, 2026 after a decline in health.
Born February 2, 1965, Douglas was the son of the late Kay S. and Patricia L. Hassler Henery.
Unknown at first, his parents soon realized that Dougie was born a very special baby boy. Despite many health problems and a life expectancy of five years, Dougie started his journey of life with a much bigger plan and strong determination.
Dougie truly enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved swimming, the chatter and company of his caregivers, and listening to music. He was known to be a bit of a flirt. No one could resist his big blue eyes and his big loving smile. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family, especially his Sissy, with whom he shared a deep loving bond. During his lifetime, he had a way of melting the hearts of many and did so across two states. Many were touched by his by his smile, love, and laughter, the purest gift he gave.
Dougie is survived by his sister, Marcie (Daniel) Hawk; two nieces and one nephew, Jessica (Ben) Bobbert, Samantha Campbell, and Tyler (Summer) Henery; a great niece and a great nephew, Matilyn and Dominic Bobbert, all of Emlenton; an aunt, Melissa (Richard) Sellers of Eau Claire, and numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kirk Henery, his maternal grandmother, Lois Hassler, his paternal grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Henery, and numerous aunts and uncles.
A private graveside service was held at the Crawford Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc., Emlenton. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
