Dorothy “Dot” Maxine Daniels, 89, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Born in Donegal Township on July 29, 1931, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Maxine Craig Clingensmith.
Dorothy attended Chicora School in the village of Goosetown. She was an avid basketball player during high school years, just like her mother, and loved playing the game. She drove race cars just for the fun of it. She worked for Magnetics in East Butler for many years before moving to Florida. Dorothy retired from working in the Volusia County Schools. She worked at Horizon Elementary School for almost 15 years of her tenure with the school system before her retirement. Following her retirement Dorothy enjoyed working in the yard, shopping, taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Dorothy married her lifelong partner, Michael Daniels, on September 25, 1954. They had a double wedding with his younger brother, Andy, and his wife, Betty Daniels. They were married 66 years. Dorothy was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving is her husband, Michael Daniels. Her son, Michael M. Daniels, Jupiter, Florida. Ronald Daniels and his wife Anita; son Austin, Jupiter, Florida. Diane L. Riley and her husband Mike; son Clinton and his wife Brook, and their son Logan; daughter Christie, Madison, Florida. Duane C. Daniels and his daughter Brittany and son Garrett, Apopka, Florida. Dr. Pamela L. Daniels and her son John, Ormond Beach, Florida.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a sister, Alice “Grin” Bacher and brothers, Donald “Don” Clingensmith and William “Bill” Clingensmith, as well as, daughter-in-law, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and a niece.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Hemphill Cemetery in Chicora with the Rev. Louis Pascazi, Senior Parochial Vicar at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, officiating.
