Donald Dean Shoup

Donald Dean Shoup, 89, of St. Petersburg, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, July 22, 2026 at his home.

Dean was born in Allegheny Twp., Butler County on September 23, 1936.  He was the son of the late Robert F. and Ruth W. Garris Shoup.  He was a graduate of Parker High School, and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.  He retired from Quaker State Oil Refining Corporation in Emlenton following more than 30 years of service.  Dean enjoyed collecting old post cards, spending winters in Florida, gardening, and having lunch with his friends and family.  He and his wife Sonja enjoyed traveling and had visited all 67 counties in Pennsylvania.  Dean was a member of both the former St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg and the Salem Lutheran Church in Knox.   

Dean was married on January 28, 1961 to Sonja Ann Master Shoup.  Mrs. Shoup preceded him in death on August 24, 2025.

Surviving are his brothers and sister in law: Robert Shoup and Thomas and Geraldine Shoup, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home, Inc. of St. Petersburg.  Memorial contributions in Mr. Shoup’s name may be made to the St. Petersburg Fire Company, P.O.
