David J. Strang Jr., 76, of Fenelton, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh after a battle with esophageal cancer.
David was born in Pittsburgh on March 25, 1947. He was the son of the late David J. Sr. and Anna Essig Strang.
He was a 1965 graduate of Connelley Vocational High School. He then went on to be a union carpenter for many years. He enjoyed countless hobbies including model trains, woodworking, restoring tractors, planting and gardening. He and his late wife, Lois, owned and operated Country Roots Greenhouse and Nursery at their home in Fenelton.
David was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Catherine Conley Strang, who passed away on July 14, 2010 after a short battle with cancer. He was also preceded by his second wife of 9 years, Lois Furey Strang, who passed away on December 4, 2021 from an extended battle with diabetic complications.
David is survived by a daughter, Colleen Klinge of Gibsonia; two granddaughters, Stephanie Walker and her husband, Joseph, of Mars and Sara Klinge and her fiancé, Alan Goetz of Gibsonia; two great-grandchildren, Logan David Walker and Zoe Catherine Walker; 2 step children, 3 step grandchildren, and a number of step great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept 13th. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
