Darlene R. Hewitt, 78, of Grand Island New York, formerly of Chicora, passed away while surrounded by her loving family Monday evening, June 16, 2025.
Darlene was born in Butler on January 16, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Emmabel Barnhart Fallen. Darlene was a graduate of Karns City high school and formerly attended the Fenelton United Methodist Church. Darlene took great joy in feeding her family and any other person that came across her path. When she said “I am making lamb on the rod” you knew that everyone was showing up for dinner. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren taking delight in spoiling them. She was a long time Buffalo Bills fan. “Go Bills”.
Mrs. Hewitt is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William “Bill” Hewitt and daughter, Michelle L. Hewitt. Darlene is survived by her children, Dawn M. Green, and her husband, Michael, of Houston, TX, Marylou A. Schwartz, and her husband, Christopher, of Erlanger, KY, Dale E. Hutchison and his companion, Kim, of Chicora, Danie L. Dillman, and her husband, Thomas, of Tonawanda, NY, Billie L. Ambrusko, and her companion, Leonard, of Grand Island , NY, a sister-in-law, Sandra Hummel Minner, and her husband, Glenn, of Canton, OH; twelve grandchildren, Heather, William, Cory, Danielle, Katlyn, Kylar, Jerrod, Collin, Justin, Aaron, Taylor, and Tia; fifteen great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Dennis, Emmalynn, Graham, Gabriella, Cody, Sadie Grace, William "Bubs", Charlie, Kaylin, Brooklyn, Bailey, Berkley, Bethany and Melody;a sister, Noreen Moculski of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her in-laws, James Leroy and Mary Annabell Rummel Hewitt, brother-in-law, Terry Hummel and Frank Moculski.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 3-7 p.m. Thursday. A graveside service will be held at Haywood Cemetery at 11am on Friday, June 20. Interment will be beside her husband.
