Damian N. Gurner, 40, of Butler, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 14, 2023 at his home.
Damian was born in Butler on September 19, 1983. He was the son of the late Raymond A. Gurner Sr. and Bernice M. LeGrand Meissner.
He was a 2001 graduate of Butler Area High School and had earned an associate’s degree in social work and psychology from Butler County Community College. Damian was passionate about bettering himself and furthering his education. He had plans to enroll in Clarion University to earn a bachelor’s degree. He was well-respected among his peers in local government and BC3. He was a volunteer with Children and Youth Services and the Drug and Alcohol Council. He was the recipient of various scholarships through the Butler County Housing Authority. He received awards and citations pertaining to his education and benevolent social work in Butler County. He enjoyed playing video games.
He survived by a brother, Raymond A. Gurner Jr.; a sister, Tiffany Meissner; a niece and nephew, Destiny and Dylan Gurner, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Meissner and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
