Brenda Lee Haug Obituary

Brenda Lee Haug, 74, of Chicora, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Brenda was born in Butler on June 30, 1949.  She was the daughter of the late Arnold H. and Mary Idella Berry Freiters.

She was a 1967 graduate of Karns City Area High School. Brenda was a faithful Christian and was a lifelong member of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church and also attended Faith Church in Brooksville, FL.

In her earlier years Brenda was employed by Moonlight Mushroom Mine in Winfield Twp., Krogers in Butler; later at The North Washington Post office and at Waltman Furniture Co. in Chicora. She had also been employed for some time at Prizant’s Carpet in Butler.

Brenda was loving, kind, and caring.  She truly enjoyed a good time and welcomed people into her home and her heart.  She was proud of her children and grandchildren.  Her husband was the love of her life and they did everything together.

Brenda was well known among family and friends for her passion for yard sales, thrift stores and finding a bargain where ever she could.  She enjoyed flower gardening and working outside around her home. Brenda had also been a member of the Red Hats Society. She enjoyed going on girls’ trips, card club, and the company of her family and friends. Brenda was an avid horse lover; in her earlier years she won many awards and ribbons at equestrian competitions. She and her husband enjoyed their winter home in Brooksville, FL, where many friendships were made.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Edward C. “Skip” Haug Jr., whom she married in Karns City on January 18, 1969.  Also surviving are three children, Edward C. Haug III (Joni Davis) of Hernando Beach, FL, Heidi Coyle of Petrolia, and Jarret Haug and his wife, Katie, of Chicora; a sister, Deborah Slagle and her husband, David, of Petrolia; a brother, Arnold “Arnie” Freiters and his wife, Tammey of Karns City; six grandchildren, Meranda Haug (James), Austen Haug, Carley Coyle, Olivia Coyle, Cooper Coyle, and Maverick Haug; two step grandchildren, Emma and Jimmy Davis; five great grandchildren, Mayzee, Lydia, Sophia, Waylon, and Amelia Lee, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas Freiters, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Ivy Haug, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.  A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Rd., Chicora, with the Rev. Mark Wallace, pastor of Chicora Alliance Church, officiating.  (There will be no viewing at church.)   Interment will be at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.  Memorial contributions in Brenda’s name may be given by visiting cancerresearchfdn.org/donate and add “Small Cell Lung Cancer Program” in the comment section.   Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
