Anna G. Truscott, 100, of Chicora, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family at Quality of Life Services Sugarcreek, on Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026.
Anna was born in Donegal Township on August 26, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Dora Lechner Garing. She was a 1943 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School, and worked as a bookkeeper for Farm Loan Credit of Butler prior to her marriage to Clarence Truscott in 1953. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking, and collecting figurines. A long-time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Chicora, she served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the altar guild. She was also active in the Band Mothers of Karns City Area High School. Anna was married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chicora on December 11, 1953 to Clarence A. Truscott. Mr. Truscott preceded her in death on August 29, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Rev. Dr Jeffrey A. Truscott of Chicora, a brother, John F. Garing, Sr. and his wife Harriet, of Chicora; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Truscott of Verona, New Jersey; two grandsons David R. Truscott of Verona, New Jersey, and John C. Truscott and his wife Jessica, of San Jose, California; a sister-in-law, Joan Garing of New Wilmington, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son George L. Truscott, her sisters and brothers and their spouses: Dorothy and William Gallaher, Vemberline and Newt Sedwick, Jeanette and Fred McCollough, Alice Garing, Marilyn and Donald Knepshield, Lewis and Phyllis Garing, and Herbert and Jeanette Garing, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 2 to 5 pm Sunday (Pastor Will Moser will offer prayer with the family and those in attendance at 4pm Sunday at the funeral home). A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2217 Chicora Rd. Chicora with the Rev. Will Moser, interim pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillview Cemetery in the Village of Kepple’s Corners. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Truscott’s name may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 2217 Chicora Rd.
