Robert A. “Bob” “Spudz” Rapp, 66, a lifelong well known Emlenton resident, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 after a yearlong courageous battle with cancer.
Robert was born on January 13, 1953 in Oil City. He was the son of the late Andrew C. Rapp and Mary Lou Planker Rapp.
Bob was a 1970 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg. He served as class president and was a member of the basketball team. Following graduation Bob attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.
Throughout his working years, Bob had been employed by several different Emlenton businesses. He enjoyed living a simple, humble life and was liked by many friends and acquaintances. He most especially enjoyed the company of his family as well as helping others.
He was a lifelong member of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton. In his earlier years, Bob was active in Boy Scouts where he earned an Eagle Scout badge. “Spudz” was a talented athlete and participated on various Emlenton area sports teams and was an avid Steelers fan.
Surviving is a daughter, Alyssa Karns (Lily) of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; his siblings, Michael A. Rapp of Mars, James E. Rapp and his wife, Cindy, of Parker, Trish Rapp Giles, of Stuart, FL, Bradley C. Rapp and his wife, Cindy, of Emlenton and Andrew C. Rapp and his wife, Leah, of Foxburg; an aunt, Ann “Frankie” Planker Irons of Mooresville, NC, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Lynn Rapp and Catherine Elizabeth “Beth” Rapp Stewart, a brother, Peter Joseph Rapp, and a niece, Stephanie Rapp.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 807 Chestnut Street, Emlenton, with the Rev. Johnathan Schmolt, pastoral administrator, officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Emlenton.
