Mary E. (Blauser) Hirsch

Mary E. Hirsch, 71, of Nickleville, a well-known business owner and retired U.S. Postmaster, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017  at her residence.

Mary was born in Oil City on July 26, 1945.  She was the daughter of the late Ora and Myra Stine Blauser.

She was a 1963 graduate of Cranberry High School and was a long time active member of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed card club with friends and had been a member of Zonta.  Mary enjoyed doll collecting, the company of her pet schnauzers, Fritz and Izzy, church activities,  spending time with her family, being a grandmother and recently a great grandmother, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Mary retired from the United States Postal Service following more than 25 years of service, having served as Postmaster at Kossuth and St. Petersburg.  She and her husband have owned and operated Hirsch’s Meats in Kossuth for many years.

Mary is survived by her husband, David W. Hirsch Sr., whom she married in Fertigs on April 12, 1964.  Also surviving is a son, David W. Hirsch Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Nickleville; a daughter, Heidi S. Maurhoff and her husband, Brad, of Norwalk, WI; four grandchildren, Kyle and Adam Hirsch of Nickleville and Orrie and Wyatt Maurhoff of Norkwalk, WI; her great granddaughter, Sophie Marie Hirsch of Nickleville, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Blauser, and a sister, Margie Blauser.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Thursday.  A funeral service will be held from the Nickleville Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Sue Montgomery, church pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Darrell Knopp, pastor of the Emlenton Presbyterian Church, officiating.  Interment will be in Nickleville Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Nickleville Presbyterian Church, 169 Valley Church Rd., Emlenton, PA 16373.  For additional information or to send a condolence, please visit
