Jean M. (Hall) Snow Barger

March 4, 1938 ~ July 8, 2018 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Jean Snow Barger Obituary

Jean M. Snow Barger, 80, of Petrolia, went home to be with the Lord, late Sunday evening, July 8, 2018 at Chicora Medical Center where she was being treated for an injury. 

 

Jean was born in Findlay, Ohio on March 4, 1938.  She was the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Virginia C. McGee Hall.  She graduated from West Winfield High School and later attended some college courses with her daughter at Butler County Community College.

 

She married her first husband, LaVern Snow and moved to Petrolia.  Mr. Snow preceded her in death 29 years ago.  Later in life, Jean married Carl “Gundy” Barger.  He survives. 

 

Jean was a member of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church in Chicora where she was a member of the Rosary Society and taught Sunday School for a number of years.  Her faith and prayers were very important to her.  Jean was a founding member of the Petrolia Ambulance Service and worked as an EMT for many years.  She also served on Petrolia Borough Council. 

 

Mrs. Barger enjoyed camping with the “Cooks Forest Campers”, puzzles, playing solitaire, coloring, bird and animal watching, and keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook.  She most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children. 

 

Jean is survived by her children, Patrick Snow of Bruin, Joanne Wymer and her husband, Robert, of Butler, Donna Thompson and her husband, Ben, of Parker, Mary Sue Wilson and her husband, Wally, of Euclid, Lawrence Snow and his wife, Lisa, of Fredericksburg,VA, and Beverly Bastian and her husband, Jeff, of Parker; her grandchildren, Sabrina Cox and her husband, Jeremy, of Bruin, Heather Busha and her significant other, David, of Milken, Co., Amber Torres and her husband, Jeff, of Denver, Co., Jasmine Snow of Broomfield, Co., Robert Wymer Jr. and his wife, Missie, Cassidy Ruby and her husband, Marty, and Terence Wymer and his wife, Jodee, all of Butler, Ben Thompson and his significant other, Kathryn, of West Virginia, Stacy Sebring and her significant other, Scott, of Butler, Brian Thompson and his wife, Tiffany, of Parker, Andrew Wilson, of Butler, Ashley Wilson, and her significant other, Justin, of West Sunbury, Gina Snow and her significant other, Eric, of Richmond, Va., Maria, Michael, and Amy Snow, all of Virginia, Miranda Thornton and her husband, Mike, of East Brady, Kyler Bastian, of East Brady, and Bradon and Trenton Bastian, both of Parker, as well as 27 great grandchildren.   

 

Mrs. Barger is additionally survived three step children, Carl Barger and his wife, Barb, of Karns City, Lori Smith, of Arizona, and Michelle Barger, of Love Grove, Co.;  nine step grandchildren and great grandchildren; four brothers, two sisters, and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 

 

In addition to her parents and first husband, Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Snow Jordan, a step daughter, Sherry Hile, a brother, Steve Hall, and four great grandchildren. 

 

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd. Chicora, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday from Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora, with Rev. Rick Thompson, church pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia.  For additional information or to send a condolence, please visit www.hilefh.com.
