Harry Courson Obituary

     Harry D. Courson, 96, of Sugar Maple Road, Emlenton, a well-known area resident and WWII veteran, passed away at his farm Friday morning, August 31, 2018.

     Harry was born in Chicora on March 3, 1922. He was the son of the late Clifford and Viola Cobbett Courson. He was retired from the Quaker State Oil Refining Corporation in Emlenton, and had been a longtime member of Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church in Emlenton. Harry was a patriotic American, and a proud US Army Veteran of WWII, serving in the Medical Corp in the European Theater of Operations. Harry enjoyed mowing grass with his riding mower, riding his ranger in the woods, the company of his dogs, working outdoors around his farm, tinkering in his carpenter shop, and visiting with family and friends with a cold beer, a glass of homemade wine, or a shot of Jim Beam.  

     He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma R. Serafine Courson, whom he married in Bradys Bend on July 11, 1942. Mrs. Courson passed away on March 6, 2013. He is survived by a son, James D. Courson and his wife, Susan, of Emlenton; a daughter, Rose Ann Klingler, and her husband, Ron, of Shreveport, LA; six grandsons, Aaron Larimore, and his wife, Darcy, Clayton J. Courson, and his wife, Tammy, Jason Larimore, and his wife, Rhonda, Tyson Larimore, and his wife, Lucretia, Adam Courson, and his girlfriend, Melissa Lloyd, and Brad Courson, and his wife Amanda “Mandy”; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Emilee, Hannah, Jordan, Jadyn, and Cora; as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     In addition to his parents and wife, Harry was preceded in death by a number of brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

     Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday.  A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Rusnak, officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the East Brady, Bradys Bend, and Chicora American Legion Posts will be at Saint Mary Cemetery in Bradys Bend.
