Colleen McDevitt Obituary

Colleen A. Shepard McDevitt, 57, of Karns City, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 26, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital following an illness.

Colleen was born in Butler on November 30, 1960.  She was the daughter of Shirley Ann McElravy Shepard of Karns City and the late Richard E. Shepard.

She was a 1978 graduate of Karns City Area High School and had attended the Karns City Church of God of Prophecy.  She was a homemaker.

Colleen was a proud grandmother and aunt and especially enjoyed the company of her grandkids, nieces and nephews.  Colleen enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses, and was a collector of American Indian memorabilia.  She was an avid Steeler fan and looked forward to camping in Marienville with family and friends.

In addition to her mother, Colleen is survived by her husband, Guy L. McDevitt, whom she married in Chicora on May 6, 1978.  Also surviving is a daughter, Laya A. Feicht and her husband, Eric, of Bruin; three grandchildren, Jonathan A. Feicht and his wife, Ali, of Butler, Madison E. Feicht and Jackson R. Feicht, both of Bruin; two great grandchildren, Beckett and Ellie Feicht of Butler; her maternal grandmother, Armeida M. McElravy of Karns City; her siblings, Tim L. Shepard and his wife, Pam, of Chicora, Char King-Irwin and husband, Tim, and Todd R. Shepard and his girlfriend, Leann, all of Karns City; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Paula Corbett of Port St. Lucie, FL, Denny McDevitt and his wife, Donna of Charleston, IL, Laurie Leighton and her husband, Tom, of Leland, NC, Richard McDevitt of Charleston, IL; her nieces and nephews, Shane and Drake King and Chase Shepard, all of Karns City, Taylor Shepard of Butler, Ashley Lasitis of Clearwater, FL, Kristi Armstrong of Wilmington, NC, and Kyle Leighton of Leland, NC; a special aunt, Jean Hahn of Greenville; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul E. and Norma L. Lanterman McDevitt of Karns City, and close neighbors and friends, Jamie and Lea Plunkard of Karns City, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Richard and Joyce Bowser Shepard, her maternal grandfather, Rev. Charles McElravy, and a nephew, Chris Corbett.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 1 – 3  and 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday from the funeral home with Church of God of Prophecy Bishop, Ronald E. Roudebush, officiating, assisted by Church of God of Prophecy Bishop Alan Ion and the presiding Bishop of the Church of God of Prophecy in Pennsylvania, Bishop Jay Croyle.  Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Chicora Ambulance, Drawer F, Chicora, PA 16025 or Petrolia Ambulance Service, PO Box 237, Petrolia, PA 16050.   For additional information or to send a condolence, please visit www.hilefh.com
