Betty Jane Watson

Betty Jane Watson, 83, of Painters Rock Lane, Emlenton, Rockland Twp., went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, August 31, 2017 at the home of her daughter.

Betty Jane was born in Turkey City on July 26, 1934. She was the daughter of the late William H. and Mabel A. Rossey DeLoe. Mrs. Watson enjoyed gardening, canning, and the company of her family, most especially her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. Betty Jane attended school in Knox. In her earlier years, she had been employed at the Donaldson Potato farm, and did housekeeping the Emlenton area. She retired from Mill Creek Hardwoods.  

Mrs. Watson was married October 17, 1965 to Gerald B. Watson, he preceded her in death on September 10, 2004. She is survived by eight children, Rosalie Kunselman, Clyde Burgdorfer, Gerald Burgdorfer, Clifford Burgdorfer, Mabel Bechtel and her husband, Tim, Rita Ison, and William Watson, and his wife, Malani, all of Emlenton, and Floyd Watson, and his wife, Emily, of Kossuth. Betty Jane is survived by 24 grandchildren, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of number 25. Also surviving are 27 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A brother survives, Harry DeLoe and his wife, Laura, of Faye, NY; three sisters, Pearl Manross, of Sligo, Bertha Ross and her husband, Earl, of Brookville, Emma Lipton, of Kentucky; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Burgdorfer, a son, Martin L. Burgdorfer, two daughters-in-law, Ruth Burgdorfer and Marcy O’Neil, a son-in-law, Shawn Ison, and six brothers, Eddie, Louie Duke, Clyde, Floyd, William DeLoe, and an infant brother.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Kimmel, pastor of the Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Rockland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Watson’s name may be made to the Venango VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, PA 16323.
