Shirley Ruth Andre, 86, a resident of Saxony Health Center in Saxonburg, formerly of Chicora, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Shirley was born in Petrolia on August 27, 1930. She was the daughter of Henry R. and Anna P. Moore Barger. Shirley graduated in 1950 from Fairview Township-Karns City High School. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bingo, going out for dinner, and most especially the company of her family. Shirley had been employed in the food service department at the Karns City Area School District, and had later been employed at the Chicora Senior Center.

She is survived by four daughters, Sherry L. Bullman, Debbie A. Eyth, Melinda S. Kepple, and her husband, Joe, and Jerri L. “Gee-Gee” Stevenson, all of Chicora; a sister, Louise “Tootie” Slagle, of Bruin; 19 grandchildren, Jennifer, Carrie, Christopher, Anna, Erica, Leah, Brandon, Breanna, Braelene, Brennen, Brayla, Allyson, Zachary, Tyler, Noah, Dalton, Courtney, Brittney, and Joshua; 15 great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Spencer, Riley, Cooper, Corbin, Carter, Madison, Kaden, Gage, Cole, Emma, Kinzie, Lillie, Tanner, and Gianna, as well as a sister-in-law, and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her former husband, Gerald D. Andre, an infant son, a brother, Byron Barger, two sisters, Ethel Cumberland and Dorothy Kelly, as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora-Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. today (Thursday), and also at the Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faith Way, Butler, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Jenks, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery in Chicora.
