Russell Kuriger

Russell Kuriger III, 62, of Penn Avenue, Lyndora, died Sunday, September 11, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.

Russell was born in Butler on January 21, 1954.  He was the son of Russell K. Jr. and Mary Heemer Kuriger.

He was a graduate of Butler High School and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler.   Russell enjoyed collecting coins, was an avid Steeler fan and enjoyed the company of his kids and grandchildren.

He had been employed as a co-manager at Friedman’s in Butler.

Russell is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Fox Kuriger, a well known waitress at Roxy’s Diner. The couple was married at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Butler on November 25, 1978. Also surviving are three sons, Bradley Russell Kuriger, Bryan Nicholas Kuriger and his wife, Karen, and Christopher Michael Kuriger, all of Butler; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Barbara Karenbauer of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday.  A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. from the funeral home.  Memorial contributions to help defray expenses may be made to the Hile Funeral Home, PO Box 262, Chicora, PA 16025.  For additional information or to send a condolence, please visit www.hilefh.com.
