Mark A. “Trapper” Cozad, 59, of Clintonville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 1, 2017 of a brain aneurysm shortly after his arrival in the emergency department at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, OH.

 

Mark was born in Grove City on March 13, 1958. He was the son of the late Robert H. and Betty M. Carnahan Cozad. He was a 1976 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, and was of the Christian faith.

 

“Trapper” was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, kayaking, gardening, and canning. Mark was a recent retiree of a 40 year truck driving career.

 

He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. “Peggy” O’Neil Cozad, whom he married in Rockland on July 17, 1999. He is also survived by his stepson Braden Blair, of Clintonville; a brother, Steve H. Cozad and his wife, Laura, of Forestville; and three sisters, Karen L. Busi and her husband, Pete, of Slippery Rock, Sue Buchanan, and her husband, Chuck, of Mercer, and Yvette D. Frampton and her husband Ted Prorok, of Harrisville; his mother-in-law, Carol O’Neil, of Rockland; two sisters-in-law, Tammy Metts and her companion, Steve Hollis, of Lake Lucy, and Billie Graham and her husband, Don, of Seneca; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Luanne Gills; a step-daughter, Amanda Blair; his father-in-law, William O’Neil; and a sister-in-law, Marcy O’Neil.

 

Family and friends will be received from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 for a Celebration of Mark’s life at the Rockland United Methodist Church. A memorial service, officiated by church pastor Rev. James Kimmel and dinner will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions in Mark’s name may be made to the Rockland United Methodist Church, 4357 Kennerdell Rd, Kennerdell, PA 16374.
