Kody A. Sarnese, 30, of Portersville, lost his battle with drug addiction that tormented him for many years on Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017.

Kody was born on February 20, 1987 in Grove City.  He was the son of Bob Sarnese and Teresa McGowan.

He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Prospect and had been employed by various companies in the area.

Kody was a skilled artist and talented poet who drew wonderful wildlife art and wrote many meaningful poems.  He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, trapping, and hunting.  He enjoyed singing and the company of his dog, Brutus.

He is survived by his father, Bob Sarnese of Prospect and his mother, Teresa McGowan and her companion, Tom Sommers, of Portersville; two brothers, Kristopher Sarnese of Portersville and Jakob Sarnese of Prospect; his paternal grandmother, Jeanne Sarnese of Prospect; his maternal grandmother, JoAnn Hetrick McGowan of Portersville, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Kody was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert “Bob” Sarnese Sr., his maternal grandfather, Richard “Dick” McGowan, an aunt and an uncle.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Church Street, Prospect, with the Rev. Gary Brown, church pastor, officiating.  A time of fellowship and lunch will follow at the church.  In Kody’s memory, parents are encouraged to give their child a hug and to discuss the topic of addiction.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hile Funeral Home of Chicora.  Condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
