Karen L. Slagle

Karen L. Slagle, 70, of Parker Pike, Parker, Parker Twp., passed away early Thursday morning, October 5, 2017 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

 

Karen was born in Butler on July 27, 1947. She was the daughter of William and Ruth Kelly Bussard, she was a 1965 graduate of Karns City High School, and retired following more than 30 years of service with the Office of Personnel Management in Boyers.

 

Karen enjoyed the company of her family and friends, most especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Sutton; a son, Timothy G. Slagle and his wife, Machelle; three grandchildren, Tyler W. Slagle, Matthew J. Slagle, and Alyssa M. Slagle, all of Butler; her husband’s son, Chad Sutton and his wife, Jeannie, and their children, Samantha, Jackie, Sara, and Dean James; two sisters, Deborah Painter and her husband, Thomas, of Pittsburgh, Cindy Seybert, of Hilliards; and a niece, Elizabeth Painter, of Ohio.

 

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main Street, Karns City, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, pastor of the Faith Community United Methodist Church in Bruin, officiating. 

 

A time of fellowship and a dinner will follow at the Bruin Fire Dept. Social Hall. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s name to the Bruin Volunteer Fire Dept, PO Box I, Bruin, PA 16022 or to the Kidney Foundation by visiting www.kidney.org/support.
