Judith A. Sloan

Judith A. Sloan, 69, of Lime Plant Road, Parker, Perry Township, Clarion County, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2016 at home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with both multiple sclerosis and cancer.

Judith was born in Butler on July 5, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Sharon L. and Anna R. Lesser McHenry. She was a member of the Parker Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, camping, boating and the company of her dog, Megan. Judy was a devoted grandmother and most especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a 1964 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Emlenton. Judy attended Slippery Rock State College and graduated from Butler Beauty School. In her earlier years, she had been employed at the Quaker State oil refining corporation in Emlenton and the Wolf’s Den Restaurant in Knox and retired following more than 10 years of service at Staab Typographic and the Progress News in Emlenton.

Judy’s family would like her to be most remembered for being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory A. Sloan, whom she married in Chicora on February 14, 1986. The couple recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. Three children survive, Gary D. Page and his wife, Melissa, of Pasadena, MD, Janeen M. Page Ferguson, of Pittsburgh, Robert K. Sloan and his wife, Dawn M., of East Brady; nine grandchildren, Alexa, Caden, Levi, Brady, Brock, Dakota, Johnathan, Rylee and Dawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John McHenry, a son Brian E. Sloan, as well as her mother and father-in-law, Durland E. “Pat” and Doris Z. Sloan.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Clarion-Forest VNA for their loving care and support.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes, pastor of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Perryville Cemetery, Perry Twp., Clarion County.
