She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in Karns City on April 5, 1926, one of two identical twin daughters of Robert Donald Foss and Mary Bryan O'Hara Foss.

After graduation from Fairview Township-Karns City High School in 1944, she worked at the Coopers Corporation during World War II and thereafter for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

She married Bernard John Barrett on December 27, 1950 and settled first in Parker, where, early in the age of television, they owned Bernie’s Radio and TV.  They left Parker briefly for Michigan, and then moved extensively for a number of years, mostly in Pennsylvania, as Bernie worked in the infant computer industry, living in Claysburg, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, AZ, Benton, Camp Hill, King of Prussia and Delaware, OH.  In 1974 they settled in Needham, Massachusetts where they remained until they returned to Butler in 2003.  Gloria lived in Bethesda, Maryland her last years.

Gloria was a devoted homemaker.  Family and friends appreciated her extraordinary baking skills and looked forward to her abundant holiday treats.  She enjoyed singing in church choirs beginning in Karns City and was an active member of the choir at Carter Memorial Methodist Church in Needham.  She volunteered extensively at the local chapter of the Red Cross, church sponsored charities and other local institutions.  She enjoyed a wide range of other activities including bridge, golf, bowling, square dancing, cooking, and sewing.  She was a member and Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed seeing her grandchildren grow into adults and was always a supporter of their activities.

She is survived by her son Bernard John "Jack" Barrett, Jr., daughter-in-law, Lauren Kubanyi Saunders, grandsons, Gabriel Saunders Barrett and Benjamin Kubanyi Barrett, all of Bethesda, Maryland.  She is also survived by her brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families.
