Eleanor Rachel Taylor

Eleanor Rachel Taylor, 102, of Big Bend Road, Emlenton, Scrubgrass Twp., Venango County, went home to be with the Lord at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at the home of her son, Duane E. McReynolds.

Eleanor was born January 22, 1914 in Big Bend near Emlenton. She was the daughter of Wilford R. and Bertha Rose White Dotterer.

Eleanor was a 1933 graduate of Emlenton High School and played on the girls basketball team. After graduation, she moved to Erie where she met and married John G. McReynolds who preceded her in death.

She was employed for several years as a nurses aid at Polk State School and Franklin Hospital. She worked a short period of time at the Emlenton Post Office. Eleanor barbered at Mercer barber shop with her nephew, James Shaw. She did house cleaning and babysitting in Emlenton for many years. She then was employed for several years at Taylor's Market in Emlenton as a clerk. She was also a very good homemaker and enjoyed her small flower gardens. She loved her grandchildren and they loved her. There were many walks in the woods with grandma. She made dolls for the girls and daisies out of yarn. Those are memories never to be forgotten.

Eleanor was saved at Kathryn Kuhlman Ministries in 1948 and she attended the Church of the Nazarene where she was a member, taught Sunday School, and played piano. Most recently she attended the Wayside Community Church in Grove City.

In 1964 Eleanor was married to R. Stuart Taylor. He preceded her in death in 2010.

Eleanor is survived by four children, Johnny "Skip" McReynolds and his wife, Vivian, of New Cumberland, WV, Eleanor Marie Henneman and her husband, James, of Charlotte, NC, Duane McReynolds and his wife, Martha, of Emlenton, and Joyce Antons of Okeechobee, FL; seven grandchildren, Gary McReynolds and his wife, Tracy, of Petersburg, VA, Lana McCauley and her husband, Greg, of Wadsworth, OH, James Henneman and his wife, Jennifer of Denver, North Carolina, Richard D. Henneman and his wife, Julie, of Boardman, OH, David D. McReynolds and his wife, Brett, of Norfolk, VA; Toni L. Weddle and husband, John of Mt. Washington, KY, Brad Antons and his wife, Christie, of Aydelette, NC; 25 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, several step nephews and nieces including Krandal Taylor and his wife, Kathy, of Ninevah and Eddie Sweetapple and his wife, Treasa, of New Castle.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Eleanor was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Henneman, who died in Sept. 2004, seven brothers, Kenneth, Earl, Donald, Howard, Harold, Leroy, and Eugene Dotterer, two sisters, Ruth Shawn and Vivian Rogge. Eleanor was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home with the Rev. Kenton Shaw, Eleanor's nephew, officiating. Interment will follow at Big Bend Cemetery, Scrubgrass Twp., Venango Co. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Motorcycle Assoc., c/o Johnny G.
