Dorothy Gurnee

January 14, 1925 ~ April 4, 2016 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Dorothy Gurnee, 91, of Emlenton, passed into eternal rest on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Clarion Hospital following a brief illness.

 

 

Dorothy was a resident of Bridge View Apartments in Emlenton.

 

 

Born January 14, 1925, in Belgium, she was the youngest daughter of the late Richard and Nora Quinn Bryant.

 

 

Dorothy was an English citizen who lived through World War II in Europe. She bravely came to the United States in 1957 with her four small children in hopes of giving them a better life. She worked at GTE-Sylvania in Titusville, until her retirement.

 


She is survived by her loving children, Rafael Mora and Sandy of Ohio, Ricardo Mora and his wife Muay of California, Alexandra Mora Cohen-Klinger and her husband Herbert of Pennsylvania, Edwin Mora and his wife Holly of Pennsylvania, Yvonne Gurnee of New York, Raymond Gurnee and his wife Cindy of Pennsylvania; and a step-son, Norman Gurnee and his wife Carol of Missouri. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

 

 

She was first married to Alfonso Mora and later Andrew Gurnee, both of whom preceded her in death. Also predeceasing Dorothy are her five older siblings, Richard "Rex" Bryant, Edna Rangel, Gerald Bryant, Michael Bryant, and an infant brother, all of England; and a grandson, Israel Michael Jacob Klinger and granddaughter, Darlene Michael Lynnette Klinger, as well as four infant grandchildren.

 

 

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends as a positive and tenacious woman who always made it a point to help others.

 

 

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave. in Emlenton, with the Capt. Kevin Brennan, pastor at the Franklin Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Lane Cemetery, Hayes, England.
