October 22, 1947 ~ October 31, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years Old


Connie J. Wingard DeLair, 70, of Maple Lane, St. Petersburg, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, October 31, 2017 at the home of her son on Wingard Road, in Emlenton following a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Connie was born in Richland Twp., Clarion County on the family homestead on October 22, 1947. She was the daughter of Jackson and Elizabeth Blair Wingard. She was a 1966 graduate of Keystone High School. Connie was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed metal detecting, digging old bottles, baking pies, making jellies and jams, and picking berries, which she had enjoyed doing since the age of three. 

Connie looked forward to the company of her sister, Sarah, on Fridays. She most especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.  Connie had been employed at the Emlenton Truck Plaza, where she was a well-known and favorite waitress to many customers for more than 25 years.

 

She is survived by two sons, Guy F. Wingard, and his wife Gail, of Emlenton, Robert C. Wingard, of Parker, four grandchildren, Jackson Wingard and his wife, Ashley, Dallas Wingard, and his girlfriend, Alyssa Babcock, Easton Wingard and Baylie Wingard; two great-grandchildren, Nichole and Kolton Wingard; three brothers, Guy R. Wingard, of St. Petersburg, Lewis Wingard, of Polk, Clint Wingard and his wife, Karen, of Aurora, MO; five sisters, Priscilla Rhoads and her husband, Leo, of Wheelersburg, OH, Sarah Benn and her husband, Cy, of Rimersburg, Barbara Hurrelbrink, of Emlenton, Martha McReynolds and her husband Duane, of Emlenton, Carrie Smeltzer and her husband Ron, of Wynnewood, OK; a sister-in-law, Hazel Wingard, of Monroeville; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Joseph Wingard, and a brother-in-law, Howard Hurrelbrink.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Scrubgrass Stone Church, 258 Stone Church Road, Emlenton, with the Rev. Dennis Barger, Church Pastor, officiating. Memorial contributions in Connie’s memory may be made to St. Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 81, St. Petersburg, PA 16054, or to Charitable Deeds, 98 Hickory Nut Ln, Knox, PA 16232-4712. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc. of St. Petersburg.
